The first WEIDE Fund beneficiaries have been selected, marking a big step for women in global trade. According to organizers, “236 women-led MSMEs in the Dominican Republic, Mongolia and Nigeria will receive grants and technical support to scale up in the digital economy.”
They were chosen from over 69,000 applications worldwide. The initiative, called Women Exporters in the Digital Economy, is jointly sponsored by the World Trade Organization Secretariat and the International Trade Centre. Officials say launch events in each country will be held soon, aiming to help more women-led businesses grow in digital markets and boost international trade.
