Ekiti Govt Opens Aso-Oke Weaving Training Empowerment

The Ekiti State Government has urged young residents to take advantage of the Aso-Oke Weaving Hands-On Training Programme designed to empower youths with practical skills and preserve the state’s cultural heritage.

The training, taking place at the Ekiti State Aso-Oke Hub, is organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives. It is part of ongoing initiatives to create jobs, support youth development and strengthen traditional enterprises.

Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives, Mrs. Omotayo Adeola, speaking in Ado-Ekiti, explained that the programme is mainly targeted at unemployed youths who are ready to learn a skill that can help them build small businesses and achieve financial stability.

She noted that participants would receive hands-on experience in weaving aso-oke, gain basic entrepreneurship training and be supported to generate income in line with Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s employment and empowerment agenda.

“This programme gives our young people the chance to create opportunities for themselves while keeping alive a tradition that is central to Ekiti identity,” Mrs. Adeola stated.

Interested youths are expected to complete the registration form online through the official link: https://forms.gle/enk3p6MyfA25i4ss5. The ministry advised that spaces are limited and early application is encouraged.
