Amid growing tension among job seekers, a list of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) shortlisted candidates has surfaced online, particularly on Facebook. However, checks have confirmed that the list is fake. Neither the Nigeria Customs Service nor the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has officially released any shortlist for the 2025 recruitment exercise.
A source familiar with the process stated, “There is no shortlist yet. The one in circulation is not from us. We have not made any announcement.”
The 2025 recruitment for Nigeria Customs and other sister agencies is being coordinated under the CDCFIB. This year’s recruitment was streamlined into a single process managed through the official portal at recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng. Any legitimate updates regarding shortlisted candidates will be published on that platform.
Investigations reveal that the list being shared dates back to 2019. The PDF document currently circulating online is available at https://customs.gov.ng/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Applicant_list.pdf. The link clearly indicates the file belongs to a previous recruitment exercise and has no connection to the ongoing one.
The Customs recruitment process began on July 14, was briefly suspended, and resumed on July 21. The application window is expected to remain open for three weeks from the date of resumption, which suggests the portal may close either by August 4 or August 11, depending on how the suspension is calculated.
Applicants are urged not to fall for scams or contact anyone claiming to have the shortlist. According to an reports, “What scammers are circulating is an old list that has nothing to do with the current recruitment process.”
