The 2025 edition of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board Annual National Undergraduate Essay Competition has officially commenced. According to the organisers, this initiative, now in its ninth year, is a flagship academic program aimed at promoting excellence among undergraduates in both public and private tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
A statement from the Board described the competition as a platform to “create awareness for the youths who are the real drivers of the Nigerian content initiative.” The program also seeks to inspire young Nigerians to build skills and competencies to participate effectively in the nation’s oil and gas industry, while developing talent that can create value from these opportunities.
The topic for the 2025 competition is ‘Sustaining Local Content Policies In The Transitioning Oil And Gas Industry’. Organisers revealed that the star prize for the first-place winner is N1,000,000, while each of the top ten finalists will receive a laptop.
Submission of entries opened in August 2025. Interested students are encouraged to visit the official website, https://www.ncdmbessay.ng/, to submit their work. The award ceremony is scheduled for 26 September 2025 at the NCDMB headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, where winners will be formally recognised for their achievements.
