Ritman University in Ikot Ekpene has announced a recruitment drive for qualified educators to join its Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) programme as Assistant Lecturers. The institution, which has been an affiliate of JUPEB for several years, says it is committed to grooming candidates who will excel in the examinations and secure direct entry admission into 200-level at Nigerian universities.
According to the management, the university has consistently presented candidates to the Board and intends to maintain high standards. “It is our desire to continue to present to the Board well-groomed candidates who would, with their success at JUPEB examinations, be easily offered Direct Entry admission at 200 level in their chosen fields of study in any Nigerian University,” the statement read.
The teaching positions are open to suitably qualified candidates in the following subjects: a. Physics b. Chemistry c. Mathematics d. Biology e. Literature f. Economics g. Christian Religious Studies h. Business Studies i. Government
The university outlined the duties of a JUPEB Tutor as follows: i. Teaches JUPEB students in a student-teacher classroom teaching approach. Conducts CA tests and quizzes. Undergoes mentoring and coaching on teaching and research. Ensures strict compliance to programme syllabuses. Takes daily class attendance. Assists in tutorials and practicals. Assists in the provision of Community Service. Performs other duties as may be required by the University Authorities from time to time.
For qualifications, Ritman University specifies: a. Candidates should be holders of a good first or second class (Upper Division) Degree and a Masters Degree in related disciplines b. B.Ed. and M.Ed. candidates (preferable) should be registered with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRC). Minimum of two (2) post-graduation experience in educational institutions.
The recruitment is part of the university’s strategy to maintain excellence in its JUPEB programme, which is designed to prepare students for higher education. The Curriculum Vitae should clearly state the position applied for as Assistant Lecturer JUPEB and include names and addresses of three referees.
The university further stated that candidates should ensure their referees send confidential reports directly to the Registrar with the applicant’s name clearly indicated.
